"Mayflower"s Coming Home...
A Date With Royalty...
Hi all. Today, out on the mainline near Nuneaton, I had a date with Royalty; well, LMS 4-6-2 Stanier Princess Royal Pacific No6201 "Princess Elizabeth" to be exact! "Lizzie" was working a railtour between Euston and Chester. I caught up with her at Marston Jabbett, near Nuneaton, on her outward trip. I must admit, she was in fine form, steaming along in the morning sunshine with a good load on the drawbar. For this shot, as I was 'in a rush', I decided just to go 'hand-held'. However, it doesn't give very good results compared to a tri-pod (sorry about that!). Anyhow, in the shot, "Lizzie" steams by and rushes over Marston Lane, across the bridge. I have spotted 6201 a few times before, in particular last July at Coventry & Nuneaton (see seperate post). Click 'Play' below to see the video...Well, I hope you enjoyed that. It was a pleasure to see "Lizzie" again, as always. Well, now I'm off to see another lady of the more Eastern variety...

Day Of (/On) The Diesel...
After my last run on the 25', Pockets took over as Second-Man for its last trip. I meanwhile headed off to the shed. Then, the heavens opened! Heavy rain came pouring down! Luckily, 3803 had just been shunted back inside! Myself and Dave took the oppotunity to check out her footplate again. Unfortunately, Dave caught me posing (and dreaming, I will admit)...
(Above, C = D.Hanks). I eventually left Shackerstone at about 3:20pm. Thank you all for reading folks and special thanks to Dave for sending in the two images you see above. Also thanks to Martin for a nice, tea-fuelled day on his Class 25. Evening all...

Replacing The Tracks...
Hi all. Just a simple day today, replacing a few points on the Garden Railway. This winter, like the previous one, caused major damage to our points. We just about managed to 'scrape' through 2010 with a few repairs here and there but, by January this year the electrical conduction was so bad that trains often slowed and sped up when they felt like it! Therefore, I decided to take action. However, points are so expensive now! Hornby wanted around £70 for three Express Points and one Standard Point; horrid! The prices have gone mad lately. Eventually, I bought the same four points from Hatton's (a model shop up north) for just over £50. Any saving is a saving afterall! As of today, the new points are fitted and the conduction is fantastic again. Trains again run the entire circuit without problem! Evening All...
