About Me

My photo
Sam Brandist
Hello and thank you for visiting my railway blog. I've been interested in railways since a very early age, in particular steam locomotives. My fascination for steam over the past two decades has resulted in me becoming a driver on the Statfold Barn Railway and a fireman on the Great Central Railway. I've been lucky enough to have been a part of the Main Line Support Crew for Tyseley Locomotive Works and also did five years firing at Bala Lake as well as some driving at Evesham Vale. Throughout this blog, which began in 2008, you can see details of my exploits and read of the many experiences and good friends I've met on my coal-powered preservation journey. It is an absolute pleasure to write about my hobby and an even greater pleasure to know that other people read the drivel that I scrawl! Thank you very much for visiting and I hope you enjoy this insight into my completely barking mad steam engine diary!
